members of Cushion Caroms:Guitarist Takeshi Nishimoto embraces and expresses music from the European, Northern Indian, and American jazz classical traditions. He has performed extensively as a solo artist, as well as in collaborations with musicians that range from the late sitar master Rahul Sakyaputra to electronic composer John Tejada. Born in Fukuoka / Japan, Takeshi came to the US to study guitar at the University of Southern California and gained a firm foundation in the classical tradition from some of the world's premiere guitar players. In addition to European classical music, Nishimoto explored jazz with Joe Diorio, David Oaks and Phil Upchurch. In 2004, Nishimoto started playing the northern Indian classical instrument "Sarod" under the guidance of Pt. Rajeev Taranath, and received personal instruction from the legendary Pepe Romero, playing in four of his master classes. What these teachers, as well his audiences, appreciate in Takeshi is his relentless pursuit of musical innovation. He is very open, and that openness extends to his playing.Andrés G. Hendrik Kröz a.k.a. Miwon brings together ambient textures, glitches, pounding floor-fillers and anthemic melodies. His music is classically pleasing in a pop sense, but also distinctly innovative and new. First stations were the labels hal9000 and Kohvirecords from Estonia, since 2004 Miwon releases on City Centre Offices (Berlin/Manchester). His worldwide underground hit Brother Mole was remixed by John Tejada and featured on Andrew Weatherall's DJ set for Fabric / London.
